WOS Trivia Title Screen

WOS Trivia Title Screen

A new Wii-optimized trivia game, WOS Trivia, is in the works.  It uses the Wii Opera SDK and an AJAX interface to make the most seamless, console-feeling game of its type.  Of course, as is true with many of the Wii Opera SDK games, most features will also be compatible with an W3C-compliant Web browser.

Features to be integrated into the final release include:

  • Real-time highscore and top-user rankings, listed by the number of correctly-answered questions or the percentage of right answers.
  • Selection of which of the numerous categories to include or exclude, savable to a free member account
  • Member accounts linked to the existing thousands at http://hullbreachonline.com, allowing many to play the added features without signing up again and login sessions automatically carried between the two websites
  • Member community-driven question submission, allowing potentially unlimited new questions per week
  • Members will never see the same correctly-answered question twice, but incorrectly answered ones stay in the mix for another opportunity to correctly answer

So far, the basic interface is in place, and tentative main menu options are ready (but are expected to change as more features join the list).  The AJAX question interface is working with more graphical tweaks and advanced player stat saving in production.

Questions are being thoroughly researched and added to the database.  The expected number of questions available at release will be in the hundreds, with many more coming each week, not including member-submitted questions (which will be vetted for accuracy).

Categories in place at the moment are: Algebra, America, Biology, Chemistry, Culture, Europe, Geology, Geometry, History, Literature, Movies, Music, News, Physics, Potpourri, Space, Sports, Technology.  Many of these will be subdivided for more variety.

A closed beta release will come before the final release. If you are interested in taking part in the beta or question submissions, you can contact me any number of ways through http://wiioperasdk.com or http://hullbreachonline.com.  Until then, get your brains ready!
