Welcome to the Internet Channel homebrew blog!

Welcome to the newly-designed blog for Internet Channel homebrew. I figured that with the rebirth of many projects at both WiiOperaSDK.com and HullBreachOnline.com, it seemed only fitting that this blog be reborn as well. Enjoy!

Russian spammers completely took over the Wiki at http://hullbreachonline.com, posting more than 100 various new scams per day, at times, despite security lockdowns.  Because of this, I have removed the Wiki from the website.  Most of what was in the Wiki can also be read in this blog or in the other sections of http://hullbreachonline.com.

I’ve also purged the files for old forum, which has been shut down for a while after Russian spammers got ahold of it as well.  TWiiter, the DS chatroom, and the upcoming re-relased Wii chatroom, will fill in the void there.

After deleting these sections from the website, I went through the database and removed the applicable parts.  Hopefully, this will create the bonus of slightly less lag in HB Online and the DS chatroom, since the resources were shared among them.

After all this cleanup, the only 3rd party application remaining on the websites is WordPress for this blog.  It’s unfortunately that the other applications were poor on security, but I think the tools developed specifically for the websites better serve the purpose since they are optimized for the Wii and DS/DSi experiences.

DSiPaint is a paint program for owners of the Nintendo DSi handheld who have downloaded the Nintendo DSi Browser. It allows members to draw images with the stylus and save them to PNG files for download on any computer. Other users can browse the gallery and vote on artwork. Any artwork drawn by a member can also be set as the avatar in TWiiter, immediately afer saving.

To begin creating artwork, visit http://dsipaint.com with your Nintendo DSi Browser. TWiiter can be viewed at http://twiiter.wiioperasdk.com. Accounts for both websites are also shared with HB Online at http://hullbreachonline.com, the browser-based MMO RPG for the Wii and Nintendo DSi.

Twiiter now has the ability to twiit to different categories called “threads”.  For DS/DSi users, there is a new drop-box to select the thread. For Wii users, start the twiit with “thread: threadname” (no quotes) for the first line.  All posts default to the “Main” thread.  The thread names all have RSS newsfeed image links for subscribing to just threads of interest.

I’ve shifted my focus over the past few weeks to Nintendo DSi Browser software development. (Many of the projects also work in the older Nintendo DS Browsers.) Here’s a summary:

Twiiter Lite:
Members can now post twiits while on-the-go. Take your Nintendo DS or Nintendo DSi to any Wi-Fi hotspot, and continue twiiting like you have been from your Wii consoles!

DS Opera SDK:
I’ve been running some tests of the Nintendo DSi Browser and posting the results at the DS Opera SDK website. Tests include canvas drawing, JavaScript object snooping, key input, UNICODE values, and more! I’ve also scaled down the old AJAX chatroom from HullBreach Online’s Wii section so that it will work on the handheld.

HullBreach Online Lite:
I’m shrinking the HullBreach Online MMO RPG to fit the dual screen resolution and changing the Wii button interface to a fully touchscreen-based control scheme. Due to the crippled support of the canvas object on the Nintendo DSi Browser, I’ve opted to use nothing but standard HTML objects conntrolled by JavaScript. Layered images with scrolling background achieve graphics of space exploration. Although combat will initially be removed from the game, chatting, trading, missions, mining, and all the other features, will be present. I will announce when the game is ready to play and add new content to both version of HB Online. All character stats and missions carry seemlessly between the versions.

All these projects use the same member accounts. You can sign up at http://hullbreachonline.com or http://twiiter.wiioperasdk.com to take advantage of twiiting, chatting, gaming, and more!

I’ve added a new feature to Twiiter.
Members can now “wiimail” each other
without having to register any Wii
System Codes between members! No
Internet Channel or Web Browser is
needed for active Twiiter members.

Here’s how it works:

Start your message with
Dear MemberName,

Follow with whatever body text you want.
Twiiter will do everything else for you,
including adding the footer to the
wiimail. If there is a problem sending
the wiimail, Twiiter will let you know.

To set up for wiimails, be sure to
checkmark the Receive Wiimails
box under My Area.
