I don't see exactly what it does as I write this post, but...It's just something new.
Has anybody figured out the meaning of subscribing to a thread, yet?
I would think an alert to the subscriber every time a post is made.
This theory died when I posted in a thread of mine.
Maybe my own posts don't "count"?

Well, it's a common feature I have seen on other Bulletin board systems. So it's not really new to me. But it's different here. It's another feature that makes me more addicted to these Bulletin boards to say the least.
I'm going to subscribe to a few threads I like in a minute, and this'll help me keep up with them.
Don't argue with idiots because they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Well for any thread you subscribe too, when some post on that thread you'll recieve a alert under your notifications saying "BB Post." and it'll have whoevers post it was name under-neath and you can click it to see what the post says. I believe they only stay in your notifications for a 1 hour time period.
Don't argue with idiots because they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

What would be better is if a thread title was included within the alert.
Thread titles that are to long would be dotted.

At least then you'll know who's posting what where.

That gets really annoying--especially if you're:
A. Subscribed to too many threads.
B. Subscribed to too many threads that you may not even follow anymore.
It's convinience, not me being lazy.

I don't see how wanting the Thread titles to be in the alerts is lazy. Those who are subscribed to a large amount of threads would be highly appreciative of it. Nothing confusing about it.
It's my job to help the next generation, and set a good example for them. And for that I'll gladly lay down my life.

Will it should only show our alerts. my alert box is full with alerts everyday like crazy.

Yup, wich is why people will usally reply right after you post. As stated, when you click it, it will also go away. Makes it more convient to keeping track of your subscriptions. Don't argue with idiots because they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

I was thinking that a minor add to the system would be for thread creators to be automatically subscribed to their thread, and obviously they could unsubscribe at will. Perhaps also the Notification to point to the thread's last page rather than the first, but that's just one-click avoidance and pretty unimportant.
Catch my drift.
