It wouldn't cause any conflict, but it will affect international trade with the rest of Europe.

A few points:
1. Either Japan would have reached America before China and become the dominate country, or Native Americans would have united, if Leif Ericson didnt discover America to be followed by Columbus

2. The EU is useful in the fact its the beginning of a single European country, a country we'll need if we are to unite the world under the UN and conquer space (before we're conquered ourselves).

3. stop saying "Haha Americans/Europeans/etc" and instead say "Haha, Chinese." Its the only land that has all the bad qualities of both America and Europe. (other than Africa and the Middle East, of course)

EU countries lost their independence when they started using the Euro.
